Manchester United will look to finalise Robin van Persie's move from Arsenal in time for him to make his debut at Everton on Monday.
The Red Devils finally came to an agreement with the Gunners for the Netherlands international on Wednesday evening, with a fee believed to be between £22-24million due to be paid out for last season's Premier League Golden Boot winner.
However, Van Persie must undergo a medical and agree personal terms before United can formally announce that he is their player after a long drawn out chase for his signature.
No problems are anticipated as Van Persie is believed to be very keen on joining up with Sir Alex Ferguson's men so the hope is he will be on board for the club's televised Premier League curtain-raiser at Goodison Park on Monday evening.
"Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of Robin Van Persie," said a club statement.
"The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course."
