Spanish create new Ron rumours
Manchester United, 12:10, June 10, 2009 ,
Real Madrid have reportedly been told to pay £82m for Cristiano Ronaldo before June 30 - or pay a penalty clause of £26m.
United chief executive David Gill has, according to Spanish sports newspapers today, informed big-spending Real president Florentino Perez of the fee required to take the Portuguese star to the Bernabeu.
However, just like last summer when all the rumours came to nothing, the stories are all emanating from Madrid and neither Gill or Sir Alex Ferguson have indicated a change in the stance that Ronaldo is not for sale.
Real are currently trying to finalise their second big signing of the summer, Valencia's David Villa, and their spree appears set to continue beyond that, but Perez is believed to be trying to negotiate a lower fee with United for Ronaldo and the penalty clause - said to be part of a pre-contract drawn up by the ex-president Ramon Calderon.
Ronaldo is in Los Angeles on holiday awaiting a decision on whether he needs surgery to cure a suspected hernia and, with three years left on his Old Trafford contract, is still part of Ferguson's plans for next season.
