Spurs duo linked with Reds

Manchester United are reported to be lining up a double swoop on Tottenham with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale the targets.

It will take a massive offer to prise both players away from White Hart Lane but the Reds are hoping to take advantage of Harry Redknapp's departure by making a double swoop. Modric has been on Sir Alex Ferguson's wanted list for a while and a move could be on the cards after Euro2012 when the Croatian is expected to make a decision on his future. Ferguson would also like Bale and has been encouraged by claims from the player's agent that the lack of Champions League football has prompted the Welshman to have a think about his future. It would take upwards of £60million to land both players and United would also face strong competition from all the big hitters throughout Europe if the duo became available. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City are all keen on Bale if he asks to leave, while Chelsea are among the clubs interested in Modric.
