Stopper back - midfield blow for United

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Rio Ferdinand is fit for Man United's trip to Everton, but Michael Carrick is out for three weeks.

The Red Devils chief confirmed that Ferdinand has now sufficiently recovered from a knee ligament injury sustained before England's World Cup campaign in early June to feature at Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime.
However, midfielder Carrick has picked up an Achilles problem, while Brazilian midfielder Anderson is the only other absentee from an otherwise fully-fit United squad.
"We've had a little setback with Michael Carrick. Out for three weeks with an Achilles problem. He's seen a specialist and had an injection," said Ferguson.
He added: "Anderson came off with a niggle last night but it won't knock him back for long.
"Everyone else is fit. Rio's in the squad - he wanted to play last night (for the reserves) but his training performances are so good, he doesn't need to."
Ferguson refused to discuss the prospect of leaving Wayne Rooney out of the match against his former club following reports about his private life in the media last week.
He said: "Let's put it to bed straightaway. I am not discussing any of my players' personal lives."
