Tevez boost for United

Manchester United, 11:38, August 18, 2008 ,

Man Utd striker Carlos Tevez is set to return from Argentina in time for the clash at Portsmouth on August 25.

Tevez missed the Premier League opener against Newcastle as the Red Devils were forced to come from behind to claim a draw after Darren Fletcher's strike cancelled out Obafemi Martins' header in the first half.
The Argentina international went home after a family bereavement but is set to face Pompey who were hammered 4-0 at Chelsea on Sunday.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson blamed injuries to Michael Carrick and Ryan Giggs for upsetting his side's rhythm against the Magpies.
"Michael suffered a bad blow to his ankle," said Ferguson. "It was pretty swollen and didn't give him any time to recover. He will be out for two or three weeks.
"Ryan hurt his hamstring, so we had to bring him off as well - which between the pair of them, meant we lost experience at vital moments in the game."
Carrick has been replaced by Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas in the England squad to face the Czech Republic at Wembley on Wednesday night.
