Tigers on Campbell pursuit
Manchester United, 10:33, August 28, 2008 ,
Chairman Paul Duffen has confirmed that Hull are not banking on re-signing Man United's Fraizer Campbell and have their options open.
Tigers boss Phil Brown has admitted he is in dire need of bolstering his forward line at the KC Stadium before the transfer deadline on September 1. And the club have been hoping to renegotiate a season-long deal with United to take 20-year-old hitman Campbell back to the club following on from his successful spell last term in which he played a big part in helping them win promotion via the play-offs.
However, with that deal determined solely on United boss Sir Alex Ferguson wrapping a deal for Tottenham's Bulgarian international Dimitar Berbatov, Duffen says it would be pure folly not to have other irons in the fire so late on in the transfer window.
He told the Mail: "If Manchester United are not able to bring in a striker before the deadline then Fraizer Campbell will not be coming. That is the situation we have been in for some time and there is no change to it."
