Time to give us credit - Rooney
Wayne Rooney fired Manchester United back to the top of the Premier League and said they have not been given the credit they deserve.
The England international striker's brace made it 26 goals for the season as he sealed a 2-0 win for United against ten-man West Brom at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The result was enough for the Red Devils to move above title rivals Manchester City at the summit of the table for the first time since mid-October after Roberto Mancini's men slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.
Sunday's events have left many people making United favourites for the title, but Rooney believes that sort of praise is long overdue.
"I don't think we have been given the credit we deserve," said Rooney immediately after the game.
"Fair enough, Europe has been disappointing but we have had really tough games in the Premier League.
"We have played a lot of the top teams. Sometimes we have not been at our best but we have still got the wins."
