United ready to unleash Pogba
Manchester United, 12:08, February 22, 2012
Manchester United are set to hand a first start to highly-rated teenage star Paul Pogba in tomorrow's Europa League clash with Ajax.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is currently battling to keep hold of the French midfielder as negotiations over a new contract are getting nowhere fast.
Ferguson will now be hoping his decision to include Pogba against the Dutch outfit can help convince the youngster that his future belongs at Old Trafford.
Juventus and Chelsea are thought to be heading a list of clubs showing an interest in the player but United are known to be desperate for him to stay.
The Scot has already lost the services of one 2011 FA Youth Cup winner in recent weeks following Ravel Morrison's move to West Ham in January and Pogba could go the same way unless Fergie can offer him more game time between now and the end of the season.
Veteran defender Rio Ferdinand has been chipping away at the 18-year-old to stay but the chance to shine in tomorrow's Europa League second leg tie could be more beneficial for the midfielder who joined United from Le Havre in 2009.
Pogba's previous opportunities for the reigning Premier League champions have all come off the bench, with three substitute appearances this season against Leeds, Aldershot and Crystal Palace in addition to a run-out towards the end of last month's Premier League win over Stoke.
