Tom Cleverley claims he is fit and ready for Manchester United's new season thanks to playing for Team GB at the London Olympics.
The highly-rated midfielder was missing for a chunk of last season due to an injury he picked up at Everton - ironically where the Red Devils will kick-off their new campaign in a week's time. However, Cleverley has built up his fitness levels throughout the summer and, featuring heavily for Team GB as they reached the quarter-finals at the Olympics, has provided him with the perfect preparation for Premier League action. Cleverley was back in a United shirt at the weekend as Sir Alex Ferguson's men defeated German side Hannover 4-3 and he is now looking forward to the big kick-off. "I've been away for a few weeks now but to come back into a good game in a good stadium and be playing with the world-class players we've got only helps your game, so it's good to be back," Cleverley told MUTV. "I think the Olympics has been good for me. I've got six games under my belt including the two friendlies so I feel 100 per cent. I'm happy and looking forward to the season."
