Vidic backed to make a full recovery
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic is set to undergo surgery in the next few days on his injured knee, according to his agent.
Silvano Martina claims the defender will go under the knife to repair the ruptured cruciate ligament he suffered in United's 2-1 defeat to Basel in the Champions League on December 7.
The 30-year-old, who will play no further part in the season as a result of the injury, will then begin on the long road to recovery in the new year.
Martina said: "Vidic will be operated upon in the upcoming days. Obviously, rupturing your cruciate ligament is not a small injury, but thanks to the medical progress in recent years it's similar to a meniscus problem some 20 years ago.
"Of course, it will take some time before he returns to the pitch. However, I have no doubts whatsoever that he will recover 100 per cent."
