Manuel Almunia's own goal, Wayne Rooney and Ji-Sung Park scored for United as they ran out 3-1 winners against title rivals Arsenal.
United roared into a two-goal half time lead at the Emirates Stadium, before Park wrapped up the points to put Manchester United to within a point of league leaders Chelsea. Thomas Vermaelen pulled one back late on but it was a mere consolation for Arsene Wenger's men who stay third, five points off top spot.
Both sides looked to attack in a lively opening to the game and United almost went ahead on nine minutes when Denilson headed a United corner at his own goal but Samir Nasri was on hand to clear off the line.
Andrey Arshavin had several opportunities and the closest he went to scoring for the Gunners in the opening stages came on 13 minutes when he got past Wes Brown down the left side of the area before curling an effort just wide of the far post.
The half came to life on 33 minutes when United took the lead. Nani produced some magical skills down the right to get past three Arsenal players and his subsequent chip into the middle was diverted into his own net by goalkeeper Almunia.
The Gunners came storming forward to win two corners as they looked for a quick response. However when the second kick was cleared on 37 minutes Nani broke at great speed before playing in the onrushing Rooney who swept a low strike into the bottom corner of Almunia's net.
Arsenal should have had a goal back within a minute when Tomas Rosicky played in Arshavin but his strike was the wrong side of Edwin van der Sar's upright.
United had the match sewn up on 52 minutes when they caught Arsenal on the break once again. Michael Carrick's ball over the top sent Park clear and he was left to run unopposed into the area before firing low into Almunia's net.
Cesc Fabregas had two efforts at goal shortly afterwards, while Alexandre Song hit a half-volley wide of the post on the hour mark.
However the hosts were given a glimmer of hope on 80 minutes when Vermaelen's effort from the edge of the area went in with a slight deflection off defender Jonny Evans.
William Gallas missed a close range header in stoppage time, before Rooney fired wide at the other end as United comfortably held out to claim the points.
