Match Reports, 15:40, October 4, 2009 ,
An irresistible Arsenal, led by Cesc Fabregas, carved apart a Blackburn side that led twice in the first half at the Emirates.
Rovers were in front twice but failed to hold on to their lead and trailed by half-time thanks to the magnificent display from Fabregas in midfield. The second half was straightforward for Arsenal as they added three more goals to take the points in emphatic style.
It took just four minutes for the deadlock to be broken as Stephen Nzonzi sent a looping header over the head of Vito Mannone after a long free-kick from Paul Robinson.
Thomas Vermaelen equalised on 17 minutes as he struck a wonderful effort into the bottom corner from outside the box.
Blackburn were back ahead just after the half-hour mark as a rapid counter ended in Brett Emerton finding David Dunn whose effort took a deflection off William Gallas and nestled in the bottom corner.
Just two minutes later Robin van Persie levelled the scores as he latched on to a quick free-kick from Fabregas and finished past Robinson with great composure.
Eight minutes from the break Arsenal were in-front when Fabregas played in Andrey Arshavin who stepped away from his man before finishing across Robinson.
Three minutes after the break David Dunn felt he should have had a penalty after a challenge from Vermaelen but his protests were waved away.
Just before the hour mark Fabregas wrapped up the points for Arsenal with a fine left-footed strike that curled into the top corner.
With quarter of an hour to go substitute Theo Walcott added a fifth when he completed a sweeping Arsenal counter-attack with a neat finish into the bottom corner.
One minute from time another substitute Nicklas Bendtner made it six as he strode across the face of the box before firing a shot low into the bottom corner off the upright.
