Aston Villa 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Match Reports, 20:00, November 28, 2009 ,

Michael Dawson made sure Tottenham took a point away from Aston Villa to leapfrog Arsenal into third place in the table.

Spurs deservedly fell behind in a lacklustre first half when Ashley Young's corner was headed towards goal by Carlos Cuellar, Beniot Assou-Ekotto clearing off the line but only as far as Gabriel Agbonlahor who managed to bundle the ball home.
Despite Peter Crouch having a shot cleared off the line Spurs didn't spark into life until after the break when they wasted chance after chance before Dawson's equaliser.
Assou-Ekotto's cross took a deflection off Richard Dunne and fell nicely for Dawson who slammed the ball past Brad Friedel on the volley.
Sub Emile Heskey headed on to the roof of the net while Jermain Defoe had a chance to win it for Tottenham late one but could only drive his shot wide as Villa hung on to claim a point.
