Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Liverpool

Match Reports, 17:12, December 5, 2009 ,

Liverpool and Blackburn play out a disappointing goalless draw which sees the Reds slip to sixth position while Rovers move up to 12th.

Rovers started the brighter of the two sides and spent the majority of the opening 15 minutes inside the Liverpool half. Chances were limited for either side and for many of the supporters at Ewood Park the half-time whistle could not have come quickly enough.
The second half was much brighter with both sides trying to fashion an opening and either side could have sneaked victory.
David N'gog had a glorious chance with 10 minutes remaining after Yossi Benayoun pulled the ball back and he saw his shot hit the crossbar. Dirk Kuyt's follow up was cleared off the line and with it went Liverpool's chance of victory.
Blackburn substitute David Hoilett found Nikola Kalinic through on goal in the dying moments and with a little more composure he could have given his side all three points, but his rushed effort was off target and the game ended goalless.
