Bolton Wanderers 1-0 Burnley
Match Reports, 23:10, January 26, 2010 ,
Owen Coyle secured victory against his former club as Chung-Yong Lee's strike was enough to see off Burnley at the Reebok Stadium.
A lot of the focus in the build-up of the game was on Coyle and in truth, the game itself never lived up to the hype. Bolton were always the better side though and almost took the lead early on when Fabrice Muamba lifted his shot over the bar after racing clear on goal.
Gary Cahill then came close with a header that went just wide from a Matt Taylor corner. Burnley then had their first chance of the game when Steven Fletcher forced a good save from Jussi Jaaskelainen.
The home side then took the lead after 35 minutes when Lee ran on to Kevin Davies' flick before smashing the ball into the net via the underside of the bar.
Moving into the second halfit was Bolton who looked the more likely to score the next goal with Tamir Cohen heading wide after confusion in the Burnley defence.
Brian Laws then tried to make something happen for his side after 65 minutes with the introduction of Frederic Nimani, but it had little effect on proceedings as Bolton comfortably held onto the win and their first clean sheet in 22 league games.
