Bolton Wanderers 3-2 Everton

Match Reports, 16:02, October 25, 2009 ,

Bolton secured their first home league win of the season against Everton at the Reebok.

Both sides produced an entertaining 90 minutes full of attacking, fluid moves and stunning strikes but ultimately it was reverting back to their typical style of route one, long ball football that secured all three points for the home side.
Bolton took an early lead courtesy of Chung-Yong Lee, whose emphatic shot from Sam Ricketts' cross sailed past Tim Howard in the Everton goal. The home side continued to press forward, with Everton looking vulnerable at the back, and further reward came just ten minutes later as Gary Cahill's thumping header doubled their advantage.
It was a moment of individual brilliance that saw Everton pull a goal back, as Louis Saha curled the ball in from 25 yards out. Saha was a thorn in Bolton's side for much of the game but he found his equal in Jussi Jaaskelainen, whose safe hands thwarted the Frenchman on several occasions.
The first-half ended with the visitors pushing forward to score another goal and the second-half started in much the same way.
Marouane Fellaini, in a strike reminiscent of Saha's earlier attempt, saw his stunning effort hit the back of the Bolton net and the match remained delicately balanced for the large majority of the second half action.
However, with just minutes remaining in the clash, substitute Ivan Klasnic controlled a speculative long ball brilliantly before drilling it past a helpless Tim Howard to secure all three points for the home side.
