Didier Drogba's brace handed Chelsea a 2-0 win against Arsenal to take them back to the top of the Premier League.
The Ivory Coast international striker scored both goals inside the opening 25 minutes at Stamford Bridge as the Blues comfortably held on to go two points clear of Manchester United and nine ahead of the third-placed Gunners in the title race.
Arsenal played plenty of good football and never gave up, but they did not have enough in the final third to break down a resolute Blues defence.
Chelsea were given a dream start when they took the lead after just eight minutes. Florent Malouda's corner from the left was headed at goal by John Terry and Drogba was on hand to fire in from close range at the back post
Arsenal enjoyed plenty of possession but could not find a way through to goal. However Andrey Arshavin went close on 17 minutes when he got on the end of Cesc Fabregas' ball over the top, but the Russian's first-time volley was saved by the feet of Blues' keeper Petr Cech.
The Gunners were made to pay for that spurned opportunity on 23 minutes when Chelsea went two-up. Just like against Manchester United a week ago, Arsenal were caught out on the counter-attack as Frank Lampard played in Drogba, who went past two players before smashing his shot past Manuel Almunia.
Samir Nasri had the first good chance in the second half on the hour mark but delayed his effort and allowed Ashley Cole to get back and put in the tackle.
Cech did well nine minutes later when he got down well to save Fabregas' low free kick, while Alexandre Song's dangerous ball into the area was also dealt with by the big custodian a minute later.
Drogba almost had the last word and a hat-trick for Chelsea on 83 minutes when he crashed a free kick off the crossbar.
