Chelsea 4-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Match Reports, 17:03, November 21, 2009

Chelsea comprehensively put Wolves to the sword 4-0 thanks to a classy display from Michael Essien in midfield.

The visitors were simply outclassed as Chelsea cruised to a four-goal victory thanks to two from Essien, one from Florent Malouda and another from Joe Cole.

The result keeps Chelsea on top of the table while Wolves will look to put this game behind them and move on to next week.

The opener came on five minutes as Malouda picked out the top corner with a long range, left-footed effort.

Seven minutes later the lead was doubled as a front-post corner was headed home by Michael Essien with power.

At the midway point in the first half Essien grabbed his second as his shot from the edge of the area took a deflection and found the bottom corner.

Wolves' best chance of the game came five minutes before the break through Sylvain Ebanks-Blake but his header was turned round the post by a sensational Petr Cech save.

The fourth came ten minutes after the restart as Joe Cole placed a shot into the corner after Salomon Kalou pulled the ball back to the edge of the box.
