Fulham 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Match Reports, 17:09, November 15, 2008

Tottenham keeper Heurelho Gomes made a shocking mistake to let Simon Davies score Fulham's opener as the Cottagers beat sorry Spurs.

Fulham had the better of a fairly tame first half as Tottenham looked out of sorts. The home side took the lead on 35 minutes in bizarre fashion, Simon Davies hit a tame shot towards the Spurs goal and somehow it bobbled over Gomes and into the net.

Gomes struggled every time a ball was crossed into the Spurs penalty area and Fulham could have doubled their lead just before the break with a Bullard corner but Vedran Corluka reacted quickly to save the struggling Spurs stopper.

Spurs came into the second half with more purpose and the introduction of Aaron Lennon for Luka Modric at half-time was a good move from boss Harry Redknapp as the winger proved a handful for the Fulham defence.

Fulham weathered the Spurs storm and doubled their lead on 70 minutes when Andy Johnson was the quickest to react to a Bullard's corner to steer the ball into the Spurs goal.

Fraizer Campbell scored a late consolation goal for Tottenham with a wonderfully placed shot that beat Mark Schwarzer from distance but Fulham held on for a deserved win against their London neighbours.
