Chelsea lost ground in the title race as Clint Dempsey's late equaliser grabbed a point for Fulham after Frank Lampard's double strike.
The American rose highest to nod the ball into the far corner of the net from a Simon Davies corner in the last minute of ordinary time as the pair combined to great effect again.
Davies had created the American's opener on 10 minutes when the Welshman's free-kick drifted across the Chelsea penalty area, finding Dempsey at the far post who hooked the ball home.
Chelsea had responded well to going behind when they grabbed an equaliser early in the second half, a long ball over the top causing mayhem in the Fulham penalty to leave Lampard with a simple tap-in.
The stand-in Blues skipper then put Chelsea ahead with a wicked free-kick from 25 yards which wrong footed Mark Schwarzer as the ball crashed into the back of the net.
