West Brom succumb to their fifth consecutive defeat as goals from Davies, Dempsey and Hangeland see Fulham come away with three points.
Fulham in the end were convincing winners as an error by Scott Carson and two headers gave them a three goal victory over West Brom whose poor form continues into the New Year. It might have been a different game if Jerome Thomas had converted his early chance. Slid in by Chris Brunt, Thomas was one-on-one with David Stockdale but the keeper denied him with a one handed save on eighteen minutes. On the stroke halftime Fulham went ahead as Dickson Etuhu won the ball and fed Simon Davies. Davies struck a fierce drive towards the top corner and the ball brushed past the hands of Scott Carson and into the net. Ten minutes after the restart Clint Dempsey added the second as he met Davies' corner with a firm header that beat Carson and found the middle of the goal. With twenty-five minutes to play another Davies corner resulted in Fulham's third. This time Brede Hangeland met the delivery with a powerful header into the ground that nestled in the bottom corner. The result sees Fulham move out of the bottom three and up into thirteenth while West Brom move in the other direction slipping to sixteenth and just two points above the relegation zone.
