Hull City 1-2 Arsenal

Match Reports, 20:18, March 13, 2010 ,

Arsenal kept up pressure at the top of the table thanks to a Nicklas Bendtner injury-time winner over ten-man Hull City.

The visitors started the game brightly and it took just 13 minutes for Arsene Wenger's side to break the deadlock, as Andrey Arshavin rounded off a lovely move with a neat close range finish.
Hull were not about to sit back and be taught a footballing lesson however, finding an equaliser when Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink was brought down inside the box by a clumsy Sol Campbell challenge. The linesman failed to spot an offside in the build up to the penalty but Jimmy Bullard did not complain, smashing home the spot-kick with confidence.
The match took a heated turn following the goal and Hull skipper George Boateng eventually received his marching orders. The midfielder picked up a booking following a clash with Nicklas Bendtner and was sent off in first-half stoppage time, when his reckless tackle brought down Bacary Sagna.
The Gunners failed to make their extra man count after the interval and it was not until the introduction of Theo Walcott that they looked like grabbing a winner. The England International made an immediate impact by setting up Andrey Arshavin in a glorious position but the Russian could not add to his tally and sliced his effort high and wide of the target.
Danish forward Bendtner, who scored a midweek hat-trick in the Champions League, dealt Hull a sucker-punch two minutes into added time when he turned in Denilson's rebounded strike from close range.
The three points leave Arsenal level with Chelsea at the top of the table but Phil Brown, who did not hold back in showing his frustration on the touchline, will be disappointed that his side could not hold out for a draw and make ground on their relegation rivals.
