Liverpool 1-1 Everton
Match Reports, 22:09, January 19, 2009 ,
Tim Cahill's header three minutes from time cancels out Steven Gerrard's opener as Liverpool miss the chance to back to the top.
Both sides failed to create too many chances in the first half, the best one falling to the returning Fernando Torres who latched onto Sami Hyypia's long ball, the Spaniard being put through on goal but failing to make the chance count as he chipped it over Tim Howard onto the post.
Liverpool finally broke the deadlock in the 68 minute when Gerrard picked up the ball 20 yards from goal and picked his spot, drilling the ball low into the bottom corner past the out stretched hand of Howard.
Everton worked hard to try and get back into the match and got their just reward three minutes from time when Mikel Arteta whipped in a freekick from wide on the left hand side, finding the head of Cahill who directed it past Pepe Reina from four yards to give the Toffees a share of the spoils.
