Chelsea saw off Liverpool 2-1 in the FA Cup final with goals from Ramires and Didier Drogba, with Andy Carroll on target for the Reds.

Chelsea looked like a threat throughout the opening stages and they got themselves in front on the 11th minute, when Jay Spearing gave the ball away in midfield for Ramires to pick up the ball and drive at the Liverpool defence before beating Pepe Reina at the near post. The Reds looked brighter after the goal and it was only a couple of minutes before a shot from Craig Bellamy was well blocked close to the line by Branislav Ivanovich. Liverpool could not get off the mark before the break and in the early stages of the second-half they found themselves two goals down when Frank Lampard found Drogba, who dragged the ball into the bottom corner on 56 minutes. The Reds did pull a goal back through substitute Carroll on the 64th minute, when he fired the ball into the roof of the net. It looked like the former Newcastle United star had levelled the scores on 83 minutes with a headed effort, Petr Cech somehow got a hand to it and Liverpool claimed the ball had crossed the line but referee Phil Dowd rejected their appeals. Liverpool could not bag another goal and it was Chelsea who lifted the FA Cup at Wembley.
