Liverpool 2-0 Bolton Wanderers

Match Reports, 17:15, January 30, 2010 ,

Dirk Kuyt's first-half strike and a Kevin Davies own goal after the break gave Liverpool the points in a disappointing game at Anfield.

Kuyt scuffed the ball home via the legs of Gary Cahill from close range on 37 minutes after a great cross from Emiliano Insua was headed back across the goal by Alberto Aquilani, while Insua's long-range effort took a wicked deflection off the Bolton striker to leave Jussi Jaaskelainen stranded on 70 minutes.
Neither sided showed much attacking intent early on but Chung-Yong Lee should have given Bolton the lead after rounding the keeper on 24 minutes.
However, his shot was cleared off the line by the outstretched leg of Sotirios Kyrgiakos.
Kuyt's goal did little to improve the standard of play and the hosts were maybe a touch lucky to be leading at the break.
The second half began in similar fashion but Steven Gerrard began to exert his influence as the half wore on and Davies' own goal settled any Anfield nerves as Bolton rarely threatened in the second period.
Liverpool piled on the pressure in the final few minutes as Owen Coyle's men stood firm but showed little to inspire confidence that they will score many goals away from home this season.
