Laurent Koscielny's strike was enough to cancel out a header from Joleon Lescott as Manchester City and Arsenal played out a draw.
In a first-half in which Arsenal enjoyed the better of the chances, Gervinho had the best opportunity when he went through on goal on 16 minutes but his first touch let him down and Joe Hart was there to smother the ball. City started to get their tails up just before the break and when Arsenal gave away a needless corner on 44 minutes, David Silva stepped up and whipped in a fine ball to Lescott, who headed home at the back post. The second-half was not blessed with many chances either but the game came into life in the 82 minute when Santi Cazorla saw his stinging shot saved by Hart for a corner. From the resulting set-piece the ball was played in and eventually fell to Koscielny who fired the ball into the roof of the City net to level the scores. The home side had a chance to take the lead again on 84 minutes when a fine overhead kick from Vincent Kompany was well saved by Vito Mannone but Sergio Aguero could not put away the rebound. It was the Gunners who almost stole the game at the death when Gervinho worked some space on the edge of the box but he could only fire the ball over the crossbar and the points were shared at the Etihad Stadium.
