Match Reports, 21:53, February 18, 2009 ,
Manchester United moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League with a convincing 3-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford.
United dominated from the kick-off and it was no surprise when they took the lead after just 11 minutes. Michael Carrick played a corner direct to Paul Scholes on the edge of the area whose first-time volley somehow squirmed past Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer into the net.
Ten minutes later it was 2-0. A long flowing United move ended in John O'Shea getting free in the area and flicking the ball across to Dimitar Berbatov who calmly finished past Schwarzer.
Fit-again Wayne Rooney came off the bench in the 60th minute and he needed just two minutes to get himself on the score sheet when he converted Ji-Sung Park's cross-shot.
At the other end United keeper Edwin Van Der Sar comfortably kept his 13th consecutive Premier League clean sheet meaning its now over 1,300 minutes since the Dutchman last conceded a league goal.
