Middlesbrough 0-0 Wigan Athletic

Match Reports, 17:16, February 21, 2009 ,

Middlesbrough's winless run continued as Wigan left the Riverside Stadium with a point in a game of few chances.

Middlesbrough were the better side in the first half, going close when Stewart Downing saw his low drive tipped round the post by Chris Kirkland.
Wigan rarely ventured forward before the break, although Brad Jones was called into action to parry Charles N'Zogbia's curling free kick.
Before those chances Didier Digard was stretchered off following a strong tackle from former Boro favourite Lee Cattermole.
Goalmouth action continued to be at a premium after the break. Hugo Rodallega enjoyed Wigan's best opportunity of the game but lofted the ball over the goal, while at the other end Kirkland saved Gary O'Neil's 25-yard strike with his knees.
