Norwich City 0-0 Chelsea

Match Reports, 15:33, January 21, 2012

Norwich ground out a well-deserved point against a blunt Chelsea side who failed to turn possession into chances.

The visitors started the match in lively fashion, passing well and trying to get forward, but could not convert possession into chances.
Norwich on the other hand looked lively on the break as Petr Cech was called on to make an early save when Steve Morison fed Anthony Pilkington. His cross-shot was parried by Cech and Morison could only jab the rebound wide.
Chelsea continued to push forward, and although Daniel Sturridge caused problems down the right, he failed to deliver a final ball of any note and consistently hit the first man with his crosses.
The Norwich keeper John Ruddy was finally called on to make a save after 26 minutes when Juan Mata played a through ball for Fernando Torres who saw his placed effort just tipped round the post.
Chelsea's efforts to break the deadlock were not helped when Frank Lampard limped off with a calf problem after 34 minutes, but his replacement Florent Malouda settled quickly and the visitors continued to pass well without really worrying Norwich.
Neither manager decided to change things at half time, and as such the second 45 minutes played out much the same as the first.
Chelsea could have been in front on the hour when Mata burst into the box, but Ruddy saved well at his near post.
With just ten minutes remaining, Mata had another chance to grab all three points, but Ruddy again saved well, although the effort looked like it was heading for the post.
Norwich never looked like grabbing a win, but holding on for a point was made all too easy by a Chelsea side who looked short of idea in the final third.
