Match Reports, 17:13, May 2, 2009 ,
Arsenal cruise to a three goal victory over Portsmouth who finished with ten men after Noe Pamarot was dismissed late on.
Arsenal opened the scoring thirteen minutes into the game, Nicklas Bendtner meeting an Andrei Arshavin cross with a back-post header, Portsmouth keeper David James making a mess of the effort as it spilled into his own goal.
The home side's best chance of the first half came as Peter Crouch broke into the Arsenal box but stroked the ball wide of the post half way through the opening period.
Bendtner grabbed his second four minutes from the break after he converted a penalty won by Arshavin. The Russian skipped past Sean Davis who brought down the winger to concede the spot-kick.
Arsenal sealed the victory on fifty-six minutes as Arshavin's shot was blocked, the rebound falling for Vela who struck it well left-footed into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Twelve minutes from time Pamarot was given his marching orders by referee Lee Mason after he bundled Arshavin to the ground as the winger raced through on goal.
