Stoke City 1-1 Liverpool

Match Reports, 14:54, January 16, 2010 ,

A late goal from Robert Huth saw Stoke take a point against Liverpool in a scrappy game at the Britannia Stadium.

Huth's strike saw the Potters equalise after Sotirios Kyrgiakos had given Liverpool the lead. A poor first half saw neither keeper have to make a serious save.
Liverpool were the better side but struggled to produce in the final third, although the Reds felt they should have been awarded a penalty following a challenge from Danny Higginbotham on Lucas Leiva.
The deadlock was broken on 57 minutes when Thomas Sorensen spilled Fabio Aurelio's free-kick, allowing Kyrgiakos to bundle the ball home.
Stoke levelled terms a minute before full-time, Huth tapping in from a yard after Higginbotham headed Mathew Etherington's corner back across the goal.
With seconds remaining Liverpool went agonisingly close to a winner, Dirk Kuyt's diving header coming back off the post.
The result will increase the pressure on Rafa Benitez as the Reds chase a top-four spot.
