Stoke City 1-2 West Bromwich Albion

Match Reports, 17:26, January 21, 2012

West Brom snatched a dramatic injury-time winner at the Britannia Stadium to earn their first win over Stoke for almost a decade.

Windy conditions at the Britannia Stadium played their part in a scrappy first half, with neither side able to display much quality.
The Baggies had the best of the early chances, Thomas Sorenson pulling off a fantastic save from James Morrison in the 25th minute, tipping a long-distance strike onto the crossbar.
The deadlock was broken in the 35th minute. Morrison's shot from 35 yards was straight at Sorenson but moved slightly in the wind and the Dane couldn't adjust as the ball slipped through his grasp and rolled over the line.
The Baggies were deserving of their lead at the break as the more positive of the two sides but Stoke, who were disappointing in the first half, showed much more attacking intent after the break.
West Brom stood firm but conceded a penalty in the 70th minute after Jonathan Walters went down in the box. The decision seemed harsh and perhaps justice was done when Ben Foster saved Walters' spot-kick.
Stoke kept pressing and got their reward in the 85th minute as Cameron Jerome rose unmarked to head home Jermaine Pennant's free-kick. The momentum was with the home side but it was West Brom who snatched the late winner in injury-time, Graham Dorrans curling a free-kick through a crowded penalty area and into the back of the net.
