Stoke City 2-0 Bolton Wanderers
Stoke saw off a determined Bolton to lift themselves out of the bottom three thanks to goals from James Beattie and Ricardo Fuller.
The game started fairly quietly with neither side willing to commit too many men forward but it was a defensive error which lead to the first goal.
The Bolton back-four fell apart as Beattie raced on to a loose ball, the Potters striker found himself unmarked in front of goal and he fired a firm shot into the bottom corner giving Jussi Jaaskelainen no chance.
The second half started in much the same way as the first with Bolton dominating possession, but without managing to create any clear cut chances and Stoke made them pay.
The home side killed Bolton off with the second goal on 73 minutes. Rory Delap launched one of his trademark throw-ins into the Bolton box which created panic in the Wanderers' defence. The ball fell to Glen Whelan who unleashed a vicious shot towards goal, Jaaskelainen did well to parry but he could only push the ball to Fuller, who fired the ball into the net from eight-yards.
