Sunderland 0-0 Blackburn Rovers

Jason Roberts missed a golden chance late in the game for Blackburn, who were forced to settle for a share of the spoils at Sunderland.

In a pretty disappointing clash at the Stadium of Light, chances were at a premium and a draw was about a fair result as both teams struggled to create much in the final third.

Phil Bardsley fired fractionally wide in the first half, while Andy Reid picked out Kenwyne Jones with a driven cross, but the striker could only head over the top.

Seconds after the restart, Blackburn had the ball in the net but it was ruled out due to the use of an arm from Christopher Samba. Morten Gamst Pedersen then hit the post on 52 minutes with a curling free-kick.

With the game destined for a draw a long clearance put Jason Roberts one-on-one with Fulop. The Blackburn striker rounded the goalkeeper but somehow side-footed the ball wide of the unguarded goal.
