It ended a goalless draw at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland and Wolverhampton cancelled each other out on Saturday.

In a first-half which took both teams time to settle, Sunderland enjoyed the better of the chances with Sebastian Larsson looking a threat in open play and from set-pieces. James McClean looked dangerous and he saw his effort on 17 minutes fly into the side netting, when he should have really tested the Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey. However the two teams went into the break on level pegging, with chances limited in what was a tight Premier League encounter. That continued into the second-half but Wolves thought they had secured all three points when they put the ball in the back of the net on 83 minutes, only for the goal to be ruled out for a foul on Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet. Neither side could break the deadlock before the final whistle and the points were shared at the Stadium of Light.
