Aaron Lennon struck in injury time to seal a dramatic 2-1 win for Tottenham over Liverpool in a breathtaking match at White Hart Lane.

Possibilities were endless ahead of this one after a spectacular weekend of Premier League football in which every side had scored at least once and this match would go on to cap things off in style. Spurs began the game at breathtaking pace but their stride was disrupted by injuries to Rafael van der Vaart and Younes Kaboul. This allowed Liverpool to grow in confidence. The Reds struck just before half time as Martin Skrtel reacted first to a loose ball in the Spurs box to stab beyond a stranded Heurelho Gomes. Maxi Rodriguez and Fernando Torres should have stretched the lead on two occasions each either side of the break and those chances would come back to haunt them. Spurs applied more pressure and upped the tempo around the hour mark and it seemed to pay off immediately. David Ngog blatantly handled Gareth Bale's free-kick in the box and Jermain Defoe had the chance to level from the spot, but the England striker pulled it wide. However, just five minutes later, Luka Modric ghosted effortlessly past three Liverpool defenders before seeing his cut back turned into his own net by the unfortunate Skrtel. There were more chances at both ends with Raul Meireles, Gareth Bale, Peter Crouch and Torres going close but it was Aaron Lennon who finally grabbed the decisive winning goal in injury time. Gomes' long punt was missed by Crouch and Skrtel, and Lennon capitalised to burst beyond Paul Konchesky and finish coolly under Pepe Reina. The win sees Spurs climb back into fifth in the Barclays Premier League while Liverpool's struggles away from home continue despite a good performance from Roy Hodgson's men.
