Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Blackburn Rovers
Match Reports, 14:44, March 13, 2010 ,
Roman Pavlyuchenko grabbed a brace for Tottenham as they claimed victory against Blackburn Rovers.
Jermain Defoe was also on target for Spurs, Christopher Samba scoring what proved to be a consolation for Rovers.
Defoe broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time, knocking the ball home at the back post after Vedran Corluka flicked on Niko Kranjcar's corner.
It was a lead Spurs deserved after creating a number of chances and twice being denied by substitute keeper Jason Brown.
Pavlyuchenko doubled the home side's advantage nine minutes after the break, beating Jason Brown from the edge of the area.
Christopher Samba pulled a goal back for Rovers with a header from Morten-Gamst Pedersen's corner on 79 minutes.
Pavlyuchenko re-established Spurs two-goal cushion five minutes from time, given space to slide home Gareth Bale's cross.
The victory keeps Spurs, who also saw what looked a clear penalty appeal turned down, in the hunt for a fourth-place finish.
