West Ham United 0-0 Portsmouth

Match Reports, 17:19, November 15, 2008

It finished goalless at Upton Park as home keeper Robert Green produced a great display to keep out former Hammer Jermain Defoe.

Genuine chances were at a premium in the first half. Defoe went close for Portsmouth, his shot deflected just wide, while Papa Bouba Diop headed over the bar.

West Ham were arguably the better side after the break, but it was the visitors who went closest to breaking the deadlock as Defoe was twice denied by Green. The keeper tipped the England striker's drive over the crossbar, before pushing the marksman's drilled effort round the post late in the game.

At the other end Craig Bellamy saw his strike cannon off the woodwork but neither side could find a way through and it finished goalless.
