West Ham United 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Match Reports, 15:50, August 23, 2009 ,

Carlton Cole went from hero to villain as Tottenham came from behind to beat West Ham 2-1 and go top of the Premier League.

Gianfranco Zola's men took the lead when England striker Cole turned sharply before unleashing an unstoppable left-footed shot beyond reserve goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini four minutes after the restart.
Cole then inexplicably played a wayward back pass into the path of former Hammers hero Jermain Defoe who did not need a second invitation to flash his shot past Rob Green for his sixth goal in four games on 54 minutes.
The winning goal came with 11 minutes remaining at Upton Park when defender Jonathan Spector slipped to allow Aaron Lennon to let fly from long range.
