Wigan and Bolton shared the points in a goal-less draw at the JJB Stadium in a lacklustre north-west derby.
The Latics nearly took the lead in the opening stages as Bolton keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen uncharacteristically fumbled a Hugo Rodallega shot.
The ball squirmed through the Finnish keeper's arms but Bolton were saved by the woodwork as the ball came back off the post.
Wigan enjoyed the majority of possession in the first half with Mario Melchiot, Mido and Rodallega all guilty of some poor finishing.
However, Bolton had perhaps the best opportunity to take a lead into the second half.
Centre-half Gary Cahill unleashed a fierce shot from the edge of the penalty area but the Bolton defender's shot was deflected onto the crossbar by Wigan's Maynor Figueroa.
Wanderers had the ball in the net in first-half injury time but Matt Taylor was judged to be offside and the teams went into the break level.
Bolton started the second half with much more purpose and drive than they had displayed in the opening 45 minutes.
Boss Gary Megson opted to move Kevin Davies into a central role and play two up front and the change in tactics allowed Bolton to exert more pressure.
Gavin McCann, Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander all had opportunities to win the game for Bolton but they either could not find the target or beat Wigan keeper Chris Kirkland and the game ended in stalemate.
