Wigan Athletic 0-0 Stoke City

Match Reports, 15:12, November 8, 2008 ,

Wigan and Stoke fought out a drab goalless draw at the JJB Stadium with the visitors managing to hold out for a point.

Latics had the worst home record in the Premier League while Stoke had the worst away record and it soon became apparent why. A poor first half saw no clear-cut chances for either team and both defences were rarely put under any real pressure.
Jason Koumas, usually such a threat from dead-ball situations, summed up the half when he sent a free-kick high into the stand.
The game improved slightly in the second half as Wigan came alive and dominated possession. Emile Heskey, Amr Zaki and Wilson Palacios all came close to scoring while Koumas caused the Stoke defence problems on the left, but they couldn't find the back of the net.
Stoke defended well and Ricardo Fuller tried his best up front but Chris Kirkland had little to do in the Wigan goal, and the Latics were left to rue their missed chances.
