Wigan Athletic 1-0 Burnley

Match Reports, 18:48, March 20, 2010 ,

Hugo Rodallega struck in injury-time to deny battling Burnley a point in a frantic game at the DW Stadium which ended 1-0.

Burnley started the brighter of the two teams as they looked to escape the relegation zone. Wade Elliott's shot in the fifth minute was goalbound but was blocked brilliantly by Gary Caldwell, while Titus Bramble was lucky to escape a yellow card after his late challenge felled David Nugent on the edge of the area but was deemed fair by referee Mike Jones.
The home side came closest to opening the scoring however, Caldwell's header from a corner deflected on to the post by Elliott in the 18th minute.
Substitute Jason Scotland had a number of chances to open his account for Wigan in the second half while Martin Paterson hit the bar for Burnley. Visiting keeper Brian Jensen made a string of fine saves in the last few minutes and it seemed the Clarets had done enough to secure the draw.
They had reckoned without Rodallega however, who met sub Victor Moses' cross with a bullet header to win the game for Wigan at the death.
