Match Reports, 17:12, January 16, 2010 ,

Richard Stearman and Hendry Thomas saw red as goals from James McCarthy and Charles N'Zogbia saw Wigan home 2-0.

Hugo Rodallega struck the post ten minutes before the break with a long-range effort but ten minutes later Stearman tugged the shirt of McCarthy in the box and conceded a penalty. Stearman had already been booked and was consequently dismissed on the stroke of half time.
Rodallega stepped up to take the penalty but Marcus Hahnemann saved and Paul Scharner missed the easy rebound.
On the hour mark Wigan took the lead as Rodallega struck an instinctive shot that Hahnemann parried. The rebound fell kindly for McCarthy who made no mistake in tucking it home from close range.
Eight minutes later Thomas was given his marching orders for a second booking as he chopped down Stephen Ward.
Wolves pressed for an equaliser but were caught on the break as N'Zogbia cut inside from the right wing, stepped away from Jody Craddock and steered the ball into the bottom corner to seal the victory.
