Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 Sunderland

Match Reports, 18:20, May 9, 2010 ,

Adlene Guedioura grabbed his first goal of the season as Wolves overcame 9-man Sunderland in an entertaining game at Molineux.

In what was effectively a dead rubber, both sides did have the option to play out the game. However a blistering first 10 minutes changed all that.
Kenwyne Jones opened the scoring on seven minutes, when his shot took a telling deflection off Jody Craddock, and the ball found its way into the net.
Wolves were almost instant in their response though when Mick McCarthy's men levelled just two minutes later.
Alan Hutton brought down Matt Jarvis in the box, and referee Lee Mason awarded a spot kick which Kevin Doyle slotted home, despite Craig Gordon getting a glove to it.
The first-half produced some fantastic football, but the second-half did dip in quality, this didn't stop Guedioura grabbing the winner however with 13 minutes left to play.
Zubar provided a great interception during a Sunderland attack, the ball broke upfield, and Guedioura produced a great strike from the edge of the area to gives Wolves the win.
Michael Turner and Jack Colback both saw red for two bookable offences for the Black Cats.
