British number one Elena Baltacha has been given a tough opener at the French Open as she is to take on former finalist Sam Stosur.
The Australian made it to the final two years ago but, having beaten Serena Williams, Justine Henin and Jelena Jankovic en route, succumbed to Italy's Francesca Schiavone in the final. Anne Keathavong has seemingly been given the easier task as she has been drawn against Hungary's Melinda Czink, who is ranked 40 places below her as the world number 116. Heather Watson, who came through qualifying for the main draw, will discover her fate after the remaining qualifiers have been completed, with Laura Robson also hoping to join her in the tournament proper. Tournament favourite Serena Williams starts her campaign against home hope Virginie Razzano but could face Maria Sharapova in the quarter-finals, with the Russian set to take on Alexandra Cadantu in the first round. Defending champion Li Na and current Wimbledon queen Petra Kvitova are potential semi-final opponents, while world number one Victoria Azarenka is in the weaker-looking side of the draw, with Stosur and Agnieszka Radwanska drawn on her path to the final.
