Kim Clijsters has announced she will retire from tennis for good after this year's US Open tournament.
The former world number one and four-time Grand Slam champion first retired from the sport in May 2007 but made a return to tennis in March 2009, going on to win that year's US Open after receiving a wild card into the main draw.
The 28-year-old has previously said that 2012 would be her final year on the professional circuit, but the Dutch star has now confirmed she intends to participate at Wimbledon - the one major title she has failed to win - before bowing out after the US Open.
Clijsters said: "As it stands I will end my career at the US Open, That is where I enjoyed my greatest triumphs and it is a very special place for me.
"The stadium is only about 45 minutes away from our house in the United States and my parents-in-law will be able to be present."
