Sara Errani qualified for her maiden Grand Slam final following a three-set victory over Samantha Stosur in the Fench Open semi-finals.
The Italian started the match nervously, dropping her first service game before collecting herself and going on to win the opening set. However, sixth seed Stosur bounced back in the second, dominating rallies as she repeatedly picked-off her opponents relatively weak second serve. The result only looked like going one way heading into the decider, but the diminutive Errani once again showed her fighting spirit and came through to take a 7-5 1-6 6-3 final set victory. The defeat means yet more French Open heartache for Stosur who lost out in the final at Roland Garros final in 2010. However, the day belongs to the tenacious Errani and she'll now go on to face either Maria Sharapova or Petra Kvitova in Saturday's final.
