Fish dumps Roddick out in Atlanta

Men's Tennis, 14:49, July 25, 2010 ,

Mardy Fish defeated top seed Andy Roddick in straight sets to reach the final of the Atlanta Tennis Championship.

Fish has now gone nine straight games without defeat, a personal best, and will face marathon-man John Isner in Sunday's final in Atlanta.
Isner prevailed by two sets to one against South Africa's Kevin Anderson in the earlier of the two semi-finals and described the heat in Atlanta as "brutal". The 6ft9 American would have expected to face top seed Roddick but will now turn his attentions to the rejuvenated Mardy Fish for the all American final.
Fish underwent surgery on his knee last year and now fitter, healthier and thirty pounds lighter, is looking to win his second straight tournament. Having overcome the top seed he will have to defeat Isner, who is seeded second, to win in Atlanta having been victorious in Newport earlier this month.
