Svetlana Kuznetsova caused a big shock at the French Open as she routed third seed Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1 6-2 in the third round.
Kuznetsova won the Roland Garros event three years ago but has slipped down to 28th in the world rankings, although no-one would have known it as she blew away Serena Williams' conqueror in a little over 70 minutes. The Russian's power proved too much for Radwanska, who won in Miami earlier this year, as she raced into a set and 3-0 lead before the Pole threatened a comeback after breaking serve. However, that was short lived as Kuznetsova reeled off the next three games to book a place in the fourth round. She will meet Sara Errani who came from a set down against 2008 champion and former world number one Ana Ivanovic to win 1-6 7-5 6-3. Ivanovic had looked in awesome form in the opening set but seemed to implode, making 37 of her 40 unforced errors in the final two sets to bow out. There were no such problems for Maria Sharapova as she took a mere 60 minutes to ease past Japan's Ayumi Morita 6-1 6-1 to set up a third-round clash with Peng Shuai of China.
