Murray dumps out Falla
Men's Tennis, 18:32, July 31, 2010 ,
Andy Murray will face Feliciano Lopez in the semi-finals of the ATP Farmers Classic after beating Alejandro Falla 7-6 (7-3) 6-1.
The British number one and world number four was once again not at his best as he struggled through the first set against the Colombian, his serve once again letting him down like it had in his last match.
Murray's overall serve percentage for the match was just 42% as he continues to try and shake off the cobwebs following his break after Wimbledon.
Falla was unable to take advantage of Murray's poor serving and while the first set was in the balance, the second went the way of the Scot as his quality came through.
Murray will now face Lopez in the semi-final in Los Angeles after he dumped out home favourite James Blake 3-6 7-6 (8/6) 6-4.
The top seed says he expected to be a little sluggish after his time off but has backed himself to get better with each match he plays.
"I had the same sort of thing earlier this year after the Australian Open when I didn't play for a few weeks," he said.
"Then I played in Dubai, I was really sore after the first match, and then each match after that I started to feel a lot better. Hopefully that'll be the case here."
